Steinway Plays Huge Role at
Detroit Jazz Festival
Few musical venues in North America rival the
Detroit Jazz Festival. So it’s important that the “right” pianos be available for all the celebrated artists and musicians involved. That’s why so many Steinway and Steinway designed pianos were used again this year at this venerable event. Steinway Piano Gallery of Detroit is pleased to be part of this great event and to be the supplier of these instruments. No one is paid to play or endorse a Steinway and yet 98% of all piano soloists use the Steinway. And even though Steinways are used overwhelmingly by professional artists, it’s still a piano essentially for the home and for those to whom a quality piano is important.
Patent of the Month
#1064325 Adjustable touch weight resistance of piano keys
This month in the year 1959, Steinway Hamburg Factory Director, Walter Gunther created a subtle mechanism that makes the touch of a Steinway sensitive to personal preference. Before adjustable car seats and adaptable gadgets, the Steinway piano has been handcrafted with a touch that is tailored to each player’s preference. With the help of a skilled Steinway-trained technician any Steinway piano can be customized for an individual pianist’s feel – from the pounding Pop performers to the lightest Baroque musicians. To get more information about fine-tuning your piano, please contact our Service Department at 248-560-9200.
“The Steinway piano is the most versatile instrument I know.” - Mitsuko Uchida

Steinway Jazz Café/Command Performance!
September 22, 7pm
Encore!…Encore!…Encore!
These are the words we heard this Summer when these amazing pianists performed at Steinway Piano Gallery, so “we’re playing it again Sam", only this time even bigger and better!
This summer the Steinway Jazz Café featured three of the greatest jazz pianists around, performing on matching Steinway Concert Grands. Many in the audience told us it was the best concert that they had ever heard… and we’re doing it again.
Featured are Cliff Monear, Tad Weed and Steve Richko playing on three 9’ Steinway Concert Grands. They sit Back to Back in a circle… They can’t see each other… Just six ears listening intently and blending traditional jazz and ballads with the ultimate of respect for one another… Three uniquely different styles with one unbelievable sound.
This is a must see. Put three concert grand pianos in a circle and space gets limited - so please call us at
248-560-9200 to make a reservation. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door. All proceeds go to these 3 incredible pianists. This concert will be recorded for broadcast and you will be part of a very important audience…See you there.
