The Smithsonian Institution to Debut Steinway Diary Online

This December you can read William Steinway’s most personal thoughts straight from his private diary on the web.  The National Museum of American History, a part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., was fortunate to receive the journal donated by the late Henry Z. Steinway and will display it in their gallery from December 17, 2010 through April 8, 2011.  Due to Henry’s diligent historical research and eager support from over 100 other volunteers, the Smithsonian has made this precious piece of American history available to the general public at http://americanhistory.si.edu/steinwaydiary/ , premiering with the gallery exhibit on December 17.

Discover the other exciting material to be displayed alongside the digital William Steinway diary at the Smithsonian’s website.

Famous Festival Pianos Sold in Michigan

This month, Steinway & Sons America President Ron Losby chose Detroit, Michigan to receive exclusive shipments of instruments hand-selected by professional musicians.  The pianos hail from renowned musical festivals around the country and were temporarily at the Steinway Piano Gallery showroom as part of a Factory Direct Sale Event.  Over 100 vertical and grand pianos were offered at substantial discounts – the largest group of pre-owned Steinway, Boston and Essex pianos ever seen in Michigan.

Since 1853, Steinway pianos have been handmade to last for generations.  A treasured possession that grows in value over the course of time, Steinway is the choice of 99% of concert artists and it is, quite simply, the standard by which all other pianos are compared.  In addition, our Boston and Essex pianos bring a level of performance that is superior to any other piano in their price range.

To see our permanent collection of new, pre-owned and vintage Steinway and Steinway-designed pianos, visit us in Commerce Township, one mile east of Haggerty at 2700 E Maple Road.  Call (248) 560-9200 to ensure that a Steinway trained expert will be available to answer all your questions and assist you in finding the piano that inspires you to reach your full potential.
