Design Center & Steinway Piano Gallery Join Hands During A Special Designer Showcase
During the first week in November, Michigan Interior Designers
and their clients had the opportunity to see, hear and select from a unique collection of Steinway, Boston & Essex pianos on site at the Michigan Design Center. Crown Jewel and Heirloom
Steinways in exotic finishes along with the Limited Edition William E. Steinway piano and a rare LXV Steinway in Rosewood were on display. All
unsold models have now been returned to our main showroom in Commerce Township where they are now available for
purchase.

Steinway Gallery Debuts
Essex Studio Piano at MMTA Convention
The Michigan Music Teachers Association met for their annual convention in
October at the Doubletree Hotel in Bay City. Among familiar faces and old friends came a newcomer to the stage: the much anticipated Essex 123-S Studio piano from designed by
Steinway & Sons. The piano was presented in a private suite for the teachers to play and evaluate; their comments were
extremely favorable. The most common reaction was to the price, as many teachers were pleasantly surprised that a piano
from Steinway was in the same price range as other lesser-known production pianos. Another teacher commented that the studio
vertical piano played and sounded like a grand. Currently, the piano is back-ordered, due to three prominent regional universities
(Eastern Michigan U, Michigan State and U of Toledo) taking the first shipment. We are currently taking pre-sale deposits for this piano on
a first-come basis. Please call 248.560.9200.

Maria Meirelles, Acclaimed Pianist & University of Michigan Doctor of Musical Arts,
Records Beethoven Sonatas at our Steinway Recital Hall in November
Not just one
or two selections, but the complete set of 32 sonatas written for piano by Ludwig van Beethoven! Maria Meirelles is widely known
for her performances, master classes and lecture recitals on the Beethoven sonatas in the United States and Mexico, where she has had the distinction
of performing for the President, as well as being a repeat featured soloist at multiple festivals in that country. We were pleased
to provide Ms. Meirelles with the best of our fleet of Steinway Concert Grand Pianos and our spacious recital hall for her epic
recording.
Patent of the
Month
#170645 - Capstan
Did you know…
This month in 1875, Henry Steinway, Jr. invented the
Capstan: a little known, yet widely used device designed to facilitate an easy adjustment of the height of a piano’s action. Now used
everywhere for its precision and practicality, the Capstan is one of the smallest yet most fundamental pieces of the 12,116 genuine Steinway parts
required to satisfy the uncompromising standards set by Henry’s father. “Build the best piano possible; sell it at the lowest
price consistent with quality.” - Henry Engelhard Steinway, Sr.
