Steinway Piano Gallery of Detroit Newsletter
July 2010

Saturday July 24, 10am - 5pm
Sunday July 25, Noon - 5pm

Many of you may think of us as “The Steinway Store” and are often surprised to learn that we have an extensive number of pianos that come to us in trade and consignment.  We currently have over 130 used pianos in stock and have run out of space in our lower level basement warehouse.

On Saturday & Sunday, July 24-25, our entire basement level will open to the public for a 2 day used piano liquidation. Many of these pianos are just a few years old including great American made pianos like Baldwin, Mason & Hamlin and Sohmer.  And as of this writing, we have over 21 used Steinways available starting at just $8000.  Other used brands include Yamaha, Kawai and a huge selection of used pianos at under $1000.
It’s a great way to find the piano you’ve always wanted at prices you didn’t expect.

National Association of Pastoral Musicians Choose Steinway, Boston & Essex Pianos for Their National Convention in Detroit

The National Association of Pastoral Musicians 33rd annual convention was held at Cobo Hall in Detroit on July 12-16 and the Steinway family of designed pianos played an important role.

Steinway Concert Model D grands were used in major performance venues throughout the convention and Boston & Essex pianos could be played and heard in workshops, seminars and other presentations by these important musicians, clinicians and convention participants.

While other piano companies offer their pianos free for publicity, the NPM insisted on using only Steinway and Steinway designed pianos once again proving that when music is important, the Steinway takes center stage.

The National Association of Pastoral Musicians fosters the art of musical liturgy.  The members of NPM serve the Catholic Church in the United States as musicians, clergy, liturgists and other leaders of prayer.

#201112 Design for
Steinway Grand Piano 500,000

By now you know that Steinway & Sons conceived the piano as we know it today, step by step from the mid-1800's.  But you may not know that we are dedicated to continuous improvement and are constantly partnering with the world's foremost engineers, designers and musicians to transform the inventions of yesterday into contemporary innovations.

Concert Grand Piano serial number 500,000 is commemorative of the 135th Anniversary of Steinway & Sons.  Designed by Wendell Castle, an iconic American furniture artist, the piano is veneered in rare East Indian ebony and Swiss pear.  Since its 1988 Carnegie Hall debut, this innovative instrument has been admired the world over on tour both in art museums for its design and in music venues for its tone.
